Nothing would ever be the same again


In a decimated post-apocalyptic world, every known marker of civilisation has all but crumbled. The great event years ago disabled critical human infrastructure, leaving the scattered remains of society to live in squalor, subjected to the elements and ill-health. Conventional living is no longer feasible.

Forced to adapt to new dangers, survivors face the very real threat of genetic mutation borne from being exposed to the environment. Yet, access to advanced technology from beyond has been a comforting source of light, resulting in two very different approaches towards survival?

Powered Suits
Ever since the great event, those with access to working technology would build enhanced exosuits that draw power from the surroundings to protect themselves. Depending on build, these suits would come with a range of functions, such as a self-contained environment, enhanced strength, and sensors to help them navigate unfamiliar terrain.

Augmentation
Exposed to this harsh new environment, a segment of society has opted to embrace the mutations by heavily augmenting their bodies with cybernetics to function and endure their difficult new lives. The replacement of body parts such as internal organs and major limbs lost to disease or dismemberment would become an accessible alternative for many desperate people. There would also be a curious few who would take such augmentations a step further, blurring the lines between man and machine.
